Recommended TOURS: Tour of the Gulf of Poets (fuel cost approximately 40/70 euros) Departure at 09:00 from the mouth of the Magra River, from which you can immediately admire the splendid landscape of the Montemarcello Natural Park with its beautiful coves, after the bridge you must keep to the right of the river until the mouth, out of the mouth heading towards on the right you reach the ancient seaside village of Tellaro, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy! After a succession of enchanting coves such as those of Fiascherino, Maralunga, l'Eco del Mare, we will arrive in the suggestive bay of Lerici with its castle and its beaches. The first recommended stop will be in one of these bays for a refreshing swim. Our tour will continue towards the pearl of the Gulf: the fascinating PORTOVENERE! Which you will find in front of Lerici in an inlet that separates the mainland from the Palmaria island. This ancient fishing village will leave you breathless: Admiring the "Palazzata a Mare" from the sea, that is, a group of buildings squeezed into each other which, tall, look out towards the horizon is undoubtedly a very suggestive sight; the different widths of the facades, as well as the uneven heights and the pastel colors that alternate between them, create an unusual spectacle for any other region of northern Italy. The Doria Castle, the ancient church of San Pietro and Byron's Cave, set in a fascinating inlet, will conclude this first part of your tour in which, stopped at anchor in the harbor of Portovenere you can eat in complete tranquility in an always dish. Once lunch is over we will set off again to discover the 3 islands, passing through the narrow passage of Portovenere and keeping to the left we begin our tour of the islands: Palamaria Island, the largest of the Ligurian islands characterized by high cliffs and numerous caves and the remains of the quarries of marble in which the precious Portoro marble was extracted. Behind the island of Palmaria there are two other islands, smaller in size, called Isola del Tino and Isola del Tinetto. The island of Tino is to all intents and purposes a natural reserve, since a military area was established on its territory which meant that it could not be exploited from a building point of view, nor was access to people or the possibility for boats to dock. The Tinetto island is the smallest of the three, and the island furthest from the mainland; on its rock the ruins of a sixth-century oratory and those of a larger church, with two naves, whose construction lasted until the eleventh century are still visible. The latter, however, was destroyed in one of the Saracen incursions. Once the tour of the islands in the direction of Portovenere is over, behind the Palmaria island you will find a bay with always calm seas where you can take a refreshing swim. Cross the gulf and you will return to the Magra river where, keeping left until the bridge, we will reach the docking area Return to port scheduled for 6.00 pm
