Charter a private yacht in Kefalonia with Scansail

Located in the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia is a beautiful Greek island waiting to be explored. This island is the largest within the Ionian archipelago and offers visitors unique culture, landscape, and gastronomy. A private yacht charter is the perfect way to discover its sparkling waters, hidden caves, and lush greenery.

How much does it cost to charter a private yacht in Kefalonia?

There are many factors to consider when calculating the price of a private yacht charter such as the type of boat, the size of the vessel, and the duration of your travels. Here is a list of the average prices according to yacht type:

Sailboat

€3,200 per week in the low season

€4,150 per week in the high season

Motorboat

€3,150 per week throughout the season

RIB

€4,200 per week throughout the season

Gulet

€6,300 per week in the low season

€8,400 per week in the high season

What type of yacht is the best for my charter in Kefalonia?

Deciding what yacht to charter for your boating holiday in Kefalonia is not an easy task. For this reason, Scansail has search filters where you can select boat types, dates, and prices to help narrow down your options. If you are looking for a daily charter with fewer people, you may want to choose a RIB or motorboat as they are easy to navigate and can take you around Kefalonia easily. However, if you are planning on taking a longer journey, we recommend chartering a sailboat or catamaran. These yachts have more cabin space and can go great distances, making them perfect for island hopping!

What is the climate in Kefalonia?

Like other Greek islands, Kefalonia experiences a typical Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Therefore, if you want to experience temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius or more, visit during July and August. However, these summer months also coincide with peak tourist season. Consequently, we recommend visiting Kefalonia in May, June, and September. This allows you to enjoy the warm weather without the crowds.

Should you charter a private yacht with or without a skipper

It is possible to charter a private yacht without a skipper in Kefalonia as long as the boat owner agrees and if you meet the regional requirements to do so. You may be able to rent a smaller vessel such as a RIB without a license, but larger yachts typically require nautical experience. This being said, there are many advantages to having a professional skipper on board with you. For example, they will handle all of the sailing, docking, and anchoring of the yacht so you can just focus on relaxing. For the ultimate luxury experience, you can also opt for having a crew that will cook and clean for you during your journey.

What to do in Kefalonia

The gorgeous Greek island of Kefalonia is filled with numerous activities that can be enjoyed by families and friends alike. We have compiled a list of recommended things to do and enjoy while on your private yacht charter to have unforgettable memories.

Of course, one cannot visit a Greek island without enjoying the beautiful beaches that are offered. If you have taste for the finer things in life, you can head to Makris Gialos Beach. This beach has soft, silky sands and premium sunbeds, ideal for laying out and soaking up the Greek sun. Following this, the most famous beach in Kefalonia is definitely Myrtos. Framed by steep cliffs, this family-friendly beach is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the turquoise waters. Ultimately, the best part of a private yacht charter is that you can go along the coast and see what beaches you like more. Whether you’re interested in hidden coves to snorkel in or lively beaches with plenty of activities, you’re certain to find this in Kefalonia.

The towns scattered across Kefalonia also bring an immense amount of charm to the island. If you head to the northern tip of the island, you will reach Fiskardo, a quaint fishing village known for its Venetian architecture that remains from Venetian rule. This town also has amazing upscale restaurants, luxury yachts, and a lively atmosphere. For a look into more archaeological sites, Sami is a gorgeous coastal town that reflects some of the deep histories of Kefalonia. Once there, you can visit the Melissani Cave, a natural wonder that brings tourists from all over the world. The cave has a lake inside with trees and forests, and a certain magical essence thanks to a big hole at the top that lets the sunlight beam through.

Where to travel nearby Kefalonia

If you want to charter your private yacht for a longer period of time, you should definitely take advantage of Kefalonia’s close proximity to other amazing Greek islands. What better way to explore a country than island hopping? Continue along the Ionian Islands and visit Corfu, Lefkada, and Zakynthos for more beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. If you have even more time, consider exploring other archipelagos in Greece! Head to the Sporades, the Cyclades, or the Dodecanese for an unforgettable experience.

It was stated in the booking app that the boat will have a 50hp engine but they had only 30hp. And it was not clear in the booking process that gas is extra charge. Other than that the boat was in excellent condition and Sami the boat responsible extremely helpful. Thank you for a wonderful day
