What is the best time of year for a yacht rental in the Algarve?

The best time of year for an Algarve yacht rental is between April and November when it is warm and sunny but with little to no rainfall. Of course, the summer months are the warmest and attract the most tourists so if you don't mind slightly cooler temperatures, we'd recommend visiting in May or September when it is less crowded.

Take a day trip:

One of the most popular day trips is to the town of Tavira, known for its cobbled streets, churches and fortresses. Visitors can take a boat trip along the River Gilão and explore some of the amazing wildlife in its estuaries, or wander through the old cobbled streets of the city centre.

Another exciting day trip is a visit to Sagres – a rugged peninsula on Portugal’s western coast. Here you will find some of Europe’s most stunning coastal scenery, as well as some incredible surfing spots. It’s also home to one of Portugal’s oldest fortresses, so be sure to check it out while you’re there!

Finally, why not take a trip out to Cape St Vincent – Europe’s most south-westerly point. This is one of Portugal’s most iconic attractions with stunning views across land and sea alike. You can even visit the lighthouse here which has been standing since 1846!

Even if you have a licence to sail we always recommend choosing a vessel with a skipper. This is because skippers are nautical experts that will dock, anchor and sail the vessel for you so that you can relax and enjoy your family or friends on board. Skippers are also usually locals of the area, which means that they will take you to all of the top spots on your itinerary, as well as some hidden gems you might not have known about otherwise.

What type of boat should I choose for my yacht rental in the Algarve?

If you’re wondering which type of vessel you should choose for your boat charter, you should tink about which type of holiday you’re looking to have. For a shorter trip, you should opt for a daily charter such as a RIB or a motorboat. For longer holidays we’d recommend a weekly rental such as a catamaran or a yacht, which is fully equipped with all of the amenities you’ll need to accommodate you throughout your stay. If you’re an avid sailor who likes the challenge of navigating the wind and the waves, you might like to choose a sailboat however, they aren’t recommended for novice sailors or people who are prone to seasickness.
